So, What's Next?

A wreck

That's an understatement of my condition following the month after my boards. The pressure of deciding what I wanted to do WITH THE REST OF MY LIFE was quite daunting tbh. With so many options, your teachers, your parents, your friends and those relatives who you had never talked to in your life but had suddenly become very interested in your future desicions after the boards marks were out, it can be very stressing out. Taking the right streams in your 11th and 12th is considered to be of utmost importance hence it has to be decided keeping in mind the colleges, courses you are aiming to study in your college. This ultimately is decided by which college entrance exams you want to write.

So I am writing a blog which I genuinely wish I had almost a year ago.

Entrance exams for Engineering related colleges

Let complete the very tritely spoken exams in the start

1) JEE MAINS

This exam mainly consists of the subjects

* Maths

*Chemistry

*Physics

And it revolves around the concepts of NCERT of 11th and 12th of the above subjects ( but as the concepts in 11th and 12th are quite linked to 9th and 10th ,it's best to concentrating and understanding concepts in class throughout your highschool ) but shifted to the 4th gear. We will be given TWO attempts in this exam, If you mess up one , you can still have hopes of acing the next exam. ( the best of the two will be considered if you attempt both) . There is also a requirement to clear a minimum cutoff (which changes every year depending on the difficulty of paper , number of students who have attempted the paper and several other factors ) to be able to write JEE advanced

Many colleges consider this exam's scores, most popular being the NIT's , IIIT's ( triple IT )

2) JEE Advanced

This exam also consists of

*Maths

*Chemistry

*Physics

Again its based on 11th and 12th concepts, but this time shifted to the 12th gear ( which is like a car flying, but I couldn't think of any other way to explain it 😅) For this exam, you will be allowed two attempts in two consecutive years.

Colleges :- The most famous and popular (drum roll) IIT's , IISER's , and several others

3) BIT-SAT

This exam consists of

*Physics - 40qs

*Chemistry -40qs

*English - 15 + 10 qs

*Maths/ Biology (B-pharm) - 45qs

Marking scheme = +3. ,-1

Again portions include 11th and 12th syllabus of above subjects, This exam too will have two attempts

Colleges:- As you would have guessed by the name BITS ( Birla institute of technology) Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad

4) KCET

This exam consists of

*Physics

*Chemistry

*Maths/Biology

To all the Kannadigas out there, Namaskara

Only students of Karnataka can write this exam

This exam is majorly for colleges in Karnataka, click here to find specific names!

5) COMED-K

This exam consists of

*Physics

*Chemistry

*Maths

The students out of Karnataka who wish to take admission in colleges in Karnataka ( and enjoy the famous Bisibelebath) will have to write COMED-K

6) MET

6) VIITEE

7)TS-EAMCET

8) WBJEE

9) MH-CET

10) AP -CET

11) KEAM

12) TAN-CET

13) AMU-entrance Exam

14) KIITEE

( Almost each state has a local entrance exam too, for admission in the popular colleges of their respective state , I have tried to cover majority of the South Indian states in the above)

Again portions are 11th and 12th syllabus, geared a little higher, Biology will be mainly centered around NCERT, hence its thorough study is required

*GK - includes Social science etc

This exam is mainly for the major nursing colleges

3) JIPMER MBBS
